A Survey of Caries Occured in Molar of Korean Children
Ryu Ki-Hyung

Abstract
A most important factor in child health is to guard against Dental caries. The molars of six year old are important in the maxilla, the development of the dental arch, and of mastication. The writer has taken a survey of molar caries among children, aged from, who attended outpatients at the Pusan National University Hospital. The survey was taken from a total of 1762 primary school children (836 males and 763 females).
1) The morbidity of molars in 7-12 years old. Female:89 From these figure it seems probable that infection is higher in females than in males.
2) The morbidity of maxillary disease also prove1 higher in females than in males. In 7 year old the figure 2 are Female: 30 Male: 22% At the age of 12 year the figures are Female: 557, Male : 49
3) The general survey of mandibular infections is the 7-12 year age group again shows higher in females than in males. Mandibular infections appear to be greater than maxillary infections. Figure 3 for mandidular infections in 7 years old. Female: 43 Male: 31 In the 12 year old group Female3: 85% Male: 70%
4) The percentage of dental caries incidence of the maxilla in 12 year old female is 55% and of the mandible 85%. These figure 4 show a higher infection rate in the mandible than the maxilla.
5) Dental caries of the maxilla in 7 year old males is 27% and of the mandible is 30%. In 12 year old dental caries of the maxilla, 49% and of the mandible 70%. So the maxilla shows a higher infection rate of the mandible.
6) Infection affecting one side, the males show a higher percentage than females. In the 7 years old group Female: 20%
Male: 12% In the 12 years old group Female: 23 Male: 29
7) Bilateral infection in 7 year old. Female: 39% Male: 22% in both 12 year old group Female: 80 Male: 61
8) The percentage of bilateral dental caries in the 7 year old male is 22% in comparison with 64% in 12 year old. The percentage of bilateral infection in 7 year old is 12?/, and in 12 year old is 29?/,.
9) The percentage of bilateral dental caries in girls. 7 year old is 39% and 12 year old is 80%. Unilateral infections show 20% in 7 year old and 23 % in 12 year old. Effect of Prolonged Alcohol Ingestion on The Growth Rate of Pat. (Director: Prof. Bang ilyun hiu) Hachin Chos Dept. of Internal Medicine College of Medicine., Pusan National University Young white rats and relatively mature rats were fed on 15% ethyl alcohol and normal diet for 120 days. The results were as follows:
1. When rats were fed with 15% ethyl alcohol and normal diet ad libidum for 120 days, the growth rate was retarded.
2. The ingestion of alcohol inhibited the growth rate during the early stage, but not during the later stage of experiment.
3. The inhibiting effect of alcohol on the growth rate was greater in young animals than in the mature animals.
4. The ingestion of alcohol to rats caused no significant changes in histological appearance of theliver or spleen, neither did it appear to affect the electrophoretic pattern of the blood serum.
5. It is possible that there is no relationship between the inhibiting effect on the growth rate and the metabolic function of the liver of ingesting alcohol to rats over a long period.
